Thank God!

I really want to thank God!

My test, I got 69. Even though its slightly lower than the average score for my class which is 72, I am quite contented about it! YEah!!! Thank you GOD!

Today, I really learnt alot from my cellgroup today.

Learning the fact that even though in life, we have good and the bad times, we should always have delight that God is always with us all the time. Many a times, I believe that people want to have God by their side when they are going to do something that involves risks or know that its a gamble with their lives (just some analogy). However, it doesn't work this way. But the humane instinct make us pray for miracle to happen in cases like these. But I learnt that we should always thank God for His protection as he will always tries his best to help us, whenever we are in need. And on top of that, when we are not in need, we should also remember to thank Him for the peaceful or happiness that we are having... Wooohoo...

Drank Milk Tea again. Without Ice this time and it costs me an additional of $0.20! Ha... Very NICE!!! It's my second cup of the week and I cannot drink anymore! Must wait for 3 more days for another cup! Ha... Press on Mervyn. You can do it!!

WOW!

Heyhey!

This is real dusty coz its been super long eversince I have actually updated my blog. I find that life, it involves acting different roles at different times everyday.

For me, I have to act like a student, a son and a financial advisor, a friend and an owner. This switching makes me feel that life is quite interesting!! Ha. For the student part, I really have got to try my very best to finish my final league (or leg) in NUS. With the tests, I am glad that I managed to clear them. Yeah.

Really want to thank God for giving me the strength for it. By the way, I find that God has certainly helped me in many ways because during one of the tests, the moment I got the paper, I turned to the second page. WHY?? The reason being the first 2 questions I did not know how to do! Later on and after much thought, I managed to complete them. At the end of the test, guess what did my friend sitting beside tell me? She heard me saying 'Jesus Christ'. But I didn't recall myself saying that. Also, I seldom say JC out. Then, apparently she heard that! I was really quite shocked and I would say that JC has helped me throughout the test and amazingly, my friend (the messenger) told me about his presence! Believe it or not... woohooo!

I have just attended my company's BASE CAMP selection for financial advisors and certainly learnt alot from the ever humble millionaire Peter Tan. Wow. Really amazing that he can remember my name very well! And his intelligence is worth mentioning about. He acquired them through books and true enough, he practised consistently what he had read and came up with the system to run his Organisation! Really learnt different lesson every day in the line as a financial advisor. And most importantly, my fellow friends and collegues in PTO really treat one another as a family member! Helped me also to close cases! Ha... Yeah!

So happy!!

Dinner and Dance

Wow!

Last night was one of the most fun Dinner and Dance I have ever gone to!

The theme was Shanghai Tang and all of us have to dress up in the Shanghai Era... And guess what?  Everyone dressed up very poshly.  For the ladies, they dressed like rich glamourous wives and mistresses.  For the guys, they dressed like da shao ye (rich princes).  So common right?? HA!

Guess what did I do for my DND??

I dressed up as a COOLIE! Ha.... actually as a helper/slave for Eve (she is the rich family girl). Ha.  When I got the pictures, I will upload here! WOOHOO!

This DND is actually the awards night whereby top 10 rookie (1st year) financial advisors as well as top 10 advisors are being recognised.  Their volumes for last year was certainly quite amazing!!  Over $200k - $700k in production.  And to think that a case of $1,200 per year will be $1,200 in production.  This totals up to around a few hundred cases last year!  WOW.  These people really worked very hard in  this career!

I enjoyed myself with Eve and I sat beside this small girl called Zhen Qi and she is Eve's niece.  Only primary 1 but very vocal and smart! Quite a few times, I was left dumbfounded as I have no idea what to answer to her questions!  She's quite a big eater and we enjoyed sharing the food. Ha...  Interacting with Children really makes me feel much lighter and happier as they are very honest people as well as very curious too!  It's unlike most adults who are solemn and quite serious as they think twice before they speak! Ha...

WOoo... I am really very happy and of coz very excited to be going into this career!

Well well, here comes another set of pictures! It's taken at Felix's house and it was my first time visiting his place!! Ha! Many of my friends thought that I have actually came to his place before (coz he is my lab partner). But nah, i didn't! Ha

Picture of me and my friends eating steamboat on Day 5 of CNY at Felix house. Ha.  The shirt I'm wearing belongs to Felix. And that makes up to 3 people on the table wearing orange shirt!

A better picture taken! Ha...

WOOHOO!! Hope that next year, we have yet another round of house visiting!!!!!

Hey everyone.

Today, I had my lab lessons and guess what? My lab partner, Felix and I had to stay in an X-ray room for 3hours and just to let the machine run and collect data. I was feeling quite giddy inside the room. Think it is really bad to stay in the X-ray room without any protection at all. On top of that, I was quite pissed because the machine took about 3hrs30mins to read only 2 samples! What the... I am not going to ever stay near the room already. I feel that there is a need to feedback to the laboratory assistant because this experiment is seriously quite dangerous. Wonder what had it done to my brain... And I am getting minute headache now...

Yes, want to comment about this. Every morning, I could feel the morning rush, especially at my home place. At the LRT station, you can see people standing very near to the yellow line already and awaiting for the LRT to approach. Then, we start to squeeze like black pearls in milk tea. That is not the peak of the story.

Walking down to take NEL is also very stressful. People would walk down at a fast pace so that they can catch the next approaching train! At the train station, people began to stand facing the door. FACING THE DOOR! SUPER NEAR... And when the doors are open, they would dash for the seats available on the train. And I am one of them! Simply cannot make it leh. This action is really bad for the heart... Man... I really hope they can slow down slightly and try not to make morning pace a stressful one...

Anyway, I had craving all these while. And wanna know what is it?? It is MILK TEA WITH PEARLS!

Can you believe that I actually had a dream about going to one of the stalls selling milk tea and there was a long queue. Despite that, I still went to queue up and when it was my turn to give my orders, they told me that they have sold out all the ingredients for the milk tea! I was very shocked because I still could see other ingredients like the pearls right in front of me. And yet, she did not want to sell it to me. Later, water began to come into the stall and I got onto a boat and headed to somewhere which is similar to Sentosa. It was raining so heavily that I began to close the windows that are similar to that of my house. Weird dream. It's all the girl's fault. She should have sold me the milk tea...

Ah yes. Dream is just a dream. I got my milk tea in reality! I got down at Compasspoint and got myself MILK TEA WITH BLACK JUICY PEARLS! Simply love the taste of the milk! Bwahhaa... I am telling myself that I can only drink 1 cup / week! Yes! :)

If someone were to want me to choose between a birthday cake and MILK TEA WITH PEARLS, I will rather choose MTWP! Woohoo....

LOVE IT MAN....

Day 7 of CNY

Hey Everyone.

Yesterday, was quite a well-occupied day for me!

In the morning, I left home and headed to Tampines and met quite a lot of potential people as clients for myself! Ha... Really so happy to meet them (around 8 people).  Out of the 8 people, 2 of them are Filipinos and they are really very friendly to me. Moreover, they save alot every month too! Ha...  Wow, really can't wait to do financial planning for them!!

I was quite shag after around 5pm and headed towards home because at night, I have got to go to my secsch friend's house, Iris house.  And guess what?? We gambled for.....

7hours!  I went home at 4.50am!  Really so shag man... together with 3 of her NTU friends, her bro and Tuckleng.  Her mum is quite funny lady.  Made us laugh quite a lot of times! Ha...

Btw, since it was Day 7 yesterday, it was considered as 'REN RI' - Everyone's birthday.  So for their family, they bought a chocolate cake as well as 2 plates of 'lou hei'.  This is my first time to eat cake on Ren Ri as well as to eat lou hei twice in a span of 2 hours!!  One at 8.30pm another at 11.30pm (before 12am, otherwise, it will not be Day 7 already).  Quite fun actually! Ha!

Back to the gambling, man, initially I was winning alot...then the luck lost le... Haa... Think I should wash my hands off gambling already. Somemore gamble for so long time! Last year, we also did the same thing! Ha...  Simply a 'tradition' if it were to be house visiting at Iris' house. Ha...

Next year, I will go again.... :)

Xin Nian Kuai Le   everyone!

Yeah!! Chinese New Year pictures!!

Gambling and CNY visits

  • Feb. 21st, 2007 at 8:10 AM

Hmm, think quite alot of my friends do gamble during CNY. I was one of them yesterday to gamble too! Ha. And my luck was like a sinusoidal curve. Win, lose, no-win-no-lose and the cycle goes again and again. Eventually, I lost $3. In the same game, my fellow pals lost around $80 plus! I can't believe it leh. Their appetite is really big. Think during CNY, one should gamble a little so as to have some fun and its quite thrilling as you can see yourself and others excited about what points they have. Ha.

Oh yes, this I have to comment! Then, people started to have their own version of lucky charm. Like this particular dollar note/coin will bring him luck. Or the person cutting the deck will bring luck, so keep calling the person to cut the deck. And for me, I placed 2 notes in the shape of a cross. Ha! For me, odd numbers bid bring me luck! Ha... Its quite funny to see their 'ways' of luck... :)

Have you guys heard of the drink CHOYA? Yesterday, I went and ask for plain water in my friend's house and I saw a CHOYA bottle filled with plain water. Then, I asked her mother as to whether did they drink it? They said yes and they found it nice. And in turn asked me to try. HA! She opened up a new bottle leh... (ASK AND YOU SHALL BE GIVEN) haa... then, I tried it.

IT'S WOW! Very nice!!!! Better than beer and vodka. Terrific leh... Bwahaa...

This year, it was my first time to have a CNY celebration with my Christian friends and they are so fun bunch of people! Joked and ate steamboat which has delicious mushrooms. And one of my friends, Vincent came up to me and asked me to choose any 1 hongbao out of the 10! Because he has packed different values to it! Innovative right?? Then, I chose mine and guess how much did I got???

$2....

Yiwen got $10.... Ha... Terrible leh... Think next time when I got married, I will do this method. Ha... U guys better don't try it! :)

Feeling happy!

Chinese New Year

Wow! I seriously find that for this year, Chinese New Year just comes too fast. Squeezing the tidying up of the home is really quite a hassle but it was done. Not to perfection, but at least it is done. Ha!

I feel happy to see my relatives at my Grandma's place and there is a new introduction to our relatives - 4mth old Phoebe! She is really so cute and I am really amazed that she has been drinking her mother's milk for 4mths straight already. She is very pretty and loved her smile!

Anyway, I have been eating and I believe that every hour, there will be at least 10 minutes of eating. If it's not the main meal, it will be dessert. Otherwise, it will be the tidbits or the packet drinks. Keep eating and drinking. Luckily Chinese New Year just comes by once per year!

Tell you something. I ate fried piglet! I was shocked when I saw the baby pighead on the kitchen table. Someone offered me 3 pieces of the roasted pork at the living room. And I ate it, find that the meat is quite tender but very oily. Then, when I was heading to the kitchen, I saw the pig head. When I took a closer look, it's a BABE! Who in the sane mind will kill piglets!! And the worse thing is that I am a cannibal. And my fellow friend's flesh is very delicious and I loved it. What the...

Later, I went to Yiwen's Ah-ma's house. I was quite paiseh upon receiving their hongbaos because I have not met their relatives for quite awhile and usually on Chinese New Year, I would happen to appear (as we patched back on December for the 4th time) and its like I feel real bad la. Ha. But they are very friendly people. Probably it's just my thinking, that's all. Eating their steamboat was terrific. Loved her ah-ma's cooking and the SOUP. I drank so much. Ha.

And more and more of her younger cousins are growing much taller and soon reaching my height. AH! But it's ok la, I just need time to accept this fact. :)

I feel really happy after yesterday!! WOOHOOO!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR, MY FRIENDS!

Spring Cleaning

Mervyn, Spears
Hey everyone!

Guess what?

Today I did Spring Cleaning. The special thing is that it is not in my home. It is in my friend's house. Ha!

My ex-manager, that is.

Ha... I was paid $10 an hour to clean his house and I spent around 3hours and only cleaned the windows and clearing some dust on the shelves and the cupboard. The windows is the time-wasters. Really quite hard to clean as they are those sliding windows which have lots of dust collection at the rails. Woohoo.

Quite fun lo.

Tml V-day... yea. Actually find that its a day whereby prices of flowers are jacked up at ridiculous rates... ha...
Blue mervyn
Why I say surprises? Because from there, I get to know what are people's recent news, their feelings and sharings which I will not imagine it will come to pass.

However, for me, it was like a bad surprise to me. The story goes like this. I was talking to my friend and she suddenly asked me what am I going to do on Vday. I told her blah blah blah... Can't tell u here...haa. We shared some about movies and stuff. Anyway, my vday plans are not important here.

Then, as the human side of Mervyn, I asked her. So how are you spending between you and your bf? Because I knew that she has a bf from year 1. Then she told me that she is no longer with him le. And Felix and I were dumbfounded! She even say its complicated and both of us are really loss of words. Then, Felix saw some minor tears in her eyes. AH!

I feel quite bad as in letting her think of her past. But honestly speaking, I wasn't meant to harm her right... If a person ask you a question, you will automatically ask him/her right?? Aiya.

I type this just to let you know la.

THIS SHOWS THAT I AM A HUMAN! What a testimony... Ha

What a dusty blog!

Anyway, its really been quite a long time eversince i have blogged.

Find that time really pass by so fast and I am really enjoying every bit of it. Yes, I may say that school life is stressful sometimes. But what to do, we have paid to the school to be stressed.

Today, guess what? I talked to 5 strangers at different time (at the Kovan plant shop, school lift and NUS Career Centre). Find so happy to talk to different people and striking the conversation is quite fun!! HA! It's best when the conversation is a continuous flow! WOW... :)

Find that the more I talk, the more cheerful I will become... Will do that more often! WOOHOO!

Stay happy my friends...

My Lab report

I am so going to complain about my bloody report!

I feel like I am forced to do something which I do not like. Damn.

Tomorrow, its going to a bloody oral exam about my report and practical....

AND LET ME TELL YOU! I ALWAYS FEEL OUT OF PLACE AFTER THE ORAL EXAM! BECAUSE I FEEL THAT IT IS NOT WHAT I WANT TO DO!

It's like I pay for my school fees to undergo something which I don't like. So dumb. SO DUMB!

I am going to be free on 30th April 2007.

DAMN!!! PISSED!

Wow!

Mervyn has completed his 2 years of befriending at Clementi Student Care service. And wow, he has learnt alot from there. Made many friends and it's certainly priceless experience.

And I got a gift for my 2 years of service. Ain't great but still usable. Ha...

Feel happy la. Ha. One less commitment already. WOOHOO!!!!

Btw, I have something to share.
Have you ever farted on the streets when no one is there? And its very windy??

Let me tell you. You gotta try it because letting out these bursts of air is really a great experience... HAAA!

Think I'm nuts...

Thank God

  • Feb. 6th, 2007 at 12:16 AM

Wow. Today I really need to thank God!! Ha!

Firstly, after my morning jog, I suddenly felt that I have something to check on my NUS mail. Then indeed, the intuition is right! I have a tutorial at 12pm and I am still at home at 10am. And the worse thing is that I haven't print out and do the tutorial. I then printed out and went to NUS. On the way, I tried my best to complete it and managed to complete 4/6 qns in 30mins. Ha... really feel so great as I managed to do it!! HA... MIRACLE man.

Secondly, I met my scholar friend again. And guess what? I followed what he told me. I took the NUH shuttle bus and wow, it was really very fast leh! Ha. During the journey of 5mins, I completed one more qn. Ha... And my other friend called me. Asking how come I took the escalator down from Buona Vista (which is not the usual way). I told him straight that I'm taking the shuttle service. Ha... Tml I am going to do it again! :) Thank GOD!

Thirdly, today, Yiwen and I planned to go out. And at the lift, I asked her to check if she got bring her ezlink card. Indeed, she didn't. Later, she could not find her wallet and she feel that in the afternoon, she might have misplaced it on the bus. We contacted the SBS Transit terminal and tried to search the room in the meantime. After 30mins, it's to no avail. I prayed. And asked God to help and wow, amazingly, guess what? Yiwen suddenly had the urge to go to her mother's room to check again and it was on the dressing table! WOW right??

It's really a God's blessing and I am really thankful. Thank you GOD!!!

Gosh... what is happening to NUS??

  • Feb. 2nd, 2007 at 7:19 PM
spears
Just this 2 weeks alone, I have encountered 3 cases of undergraduates in NUS passing away.

Its really very shocking because they are of my age (or even younger. Not that I'm old, but of the average age of the Year 3s. Think should ignore this part).

It is this guy, Sun Cheng Liang from Business (I think). His story is really very sad. Passed away only last night- immediate death leh.

Account
--------

He just finished lecture and contacted his girlfriend at 8pm that he is able to meet her at 8.30pm. However, by 9pm, he haven't reached yet.

Then, his girlfriend received the news that he had met with an accident with his bike.

Man, this is really real shock! We must all take good care of each other man.

For the other 2 cases, one is doing an exchange programme at Philadalphia (is it this spelling?) and she met with an accident there. Real shocking right??

Another one is due to a disease ba. Not quite sure. She was a science student. I tried to search for her death information and cause on Yahoo!. Guess what?? I found a website which brought me to one of her modules, whereby she made a comment. That's real shocking to me because I didn't expect to know that the web can know what comments you type internally in a NUS Website.

Think I'm lack of vocab. Keep on using Shocking.

Hey man, do take care of each other's safety on the road or anywhere. Better be insured ASAP!

NOTE: We are young but we have no idea what will be tomorrow... (I am trying to be serious here...)
